Understand how the Condominium Dispute Resolution Tribunal works, what it may mean for your condominium community, and what to expect when disputes need formal support.
Alberta’s new Condominium Dispute Resolution Tribunal represents a significant shift in how certain condominium-related conflicts will be managed and resolved.
This info session was the opportunity for our members to hear directly from members of the Condominium Dispute Resolution Tribunal (CDRT), along with condominium law and government advocacy expert Hugh Willis, about the tribunal’s role, jurisdiction, and place within Alberta’s broader condominium legal landscape.
Attendees gained practical insight into the CDRT process, available dispute resolution pathways, and what condo owners, board members, managers, and industry professionals should understand as this new process becomes part of Alberta’s condominium sector.
About the Condominium Dispute Resolution Tribunal
The Condominium Dispute Resolution Tribunal provides timely, fair, and independent dispute resolution services for Alberta’s condominium community.
The Condominium Dispute Resolution Tribunal (CDRT) is an independent, quasi-judicial body established under Alberta’s Condominium Property Act. It helps condominium communities resolve disputes in a way that supports positive relationships and minimizes unnecessary intervention. The tribunal offers resources, mediation, and adjudication when needed, with case officers guiding parties through the process. Services are primarily offered online to keep them accessible and low-cost, with offline options available when necessary.
