Fall brings brilliantly coloured leaves, cooler weather, and the familiar smell of your heating system turning on for the first time in months. Multi-unit Housing Complexes face challenges with air quality that require a specific approach and expertise to address them. There are effective ways that Condo Owners can limit their exposure to unhealthy, stagnant, and “shared” air.
In addition, our exterior walls (envelope walls) are becoming very efficient in addressing air infiltration/exfiltration, water leaks and vapor migration concerns. This increased envelope efficiency has the potential to keep harmful gaseous compounds such as volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) within the interior occupied environment. Therefore, efficient envelope systems require optimization of the interior environment controls such as ventilation systems to keep a healthier indoor environment. To effectively reduce interior humidity levels and to eliminate harmful VOC’s from their units, Condominium Owners should be familiar with the proper use of their interior environment controls.
Attendees who live in or manage condominiums will come away from this presentation armed with a variety of tools and solutions to minimize, filter, and purify unhealthy air from their homes.
