Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan Lifts Most COVID-19 Restrictions

On July 1, Alberta went to Stage 3 of the ‘Open for Summer’ plan. Mandatory provincial restrictions related to the spread of COVID-19 were lifted except for:

  • The requirement to self-isolate if you exhibit COVID-19 symptoms
  • The requirement to wear masks on public transit and in ride shares and taxis
  • The requirement to wear masks in long term and acute health care facilities

Complete information can be found on the government’s website.

The Alberta government is still encouraging Albertans to get the vaccine for COVID-19.  Albertans who get their vaccine are eligible to enter a lottery. Information on where to book vaccine appointments can be found here.

Advice for condominium corporations:

If you have not already done so, develop a plan for how and when you will re-open amenities and make changes to any building restrictions, and communicate that plan including timelines to all residents.  There is a lot of variation in how Alberta businesses are approaching re-opening, and residents would benefit from clear, timely communications.

CCI North Alberta Operations:

The CCI North Alberta office will reopen on Monday, July 19. Masks are no longer required in our office building as of July 1, but we ask that if you are coming to visit us that you respect the decisions of staff and your fellow CCI members around whether they wish to continue to mask. If you wish to come into the office to see us before July 19, please make an appointment to ensure that staff are on hand to see you – we will be out of the office with planned vacations and meetings for several days in the first 2 weeks of July.

We are looking forward to hosting our Condo Golf Mixer on September 10 at the newly renovated Cattail Golf & Winter Club. You can register here don’t miss the July 30 early bird deadline for savings!).

We will be hiring an education coordinator to assist with the development of a fall education calendar that has a combination of webinar and in-person events. We look forward to sharing details on the fall education calendar soon.

We are looking forward to seeing our members in person again. Your safety and comfort are very important to us, so we will be continuing to make opportunities to connect with the condominium community available virtually as we move back to in-person events.

Thank you to all of our members, and good luck with the summer!
